Who is responsible
The controller for the personal data described here is Jobu 42 Holding ApS, company no. 44796988, Skovbovænget 85, Hareskov, 3500 Værløse, Denmark. It runs pipebase.dev under the name Pipebase, and runs docs.pipebase.dev under the same name. You can reach us at hello@pipebase.dev.
This page covers the websites pipebase.dev, www.pipebase.dev and docs.pipebase.dev, and the e-mail you send to hello@pipebase.dev or abuse@pipebase.dev.
Server logs
Both websites run on our server behind one reverse proxy. The proxy writes a log entry only when a request ends in an error, with a status from 400 to 599. An entry holds your IP address, the time, the request method, address and protocol, the status, the size of the response, the page that linked to it, your browser's user agent, and which of our services answered and how long it took.
The log is rotated daily and seven compressed generations are kept, so an entry is deleted after about eight days at most. The web servers behind the proxy keep no access log.
We use these entries to run the websites and keep them secure, for example to find broken links and to trace attacks. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in doing so (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). We keep no visitor statistics, and neither website loads anything from another company's servers.
E-mail you send us
When you write to hello@pipebase.dev or abuse@pipebase.dev, Cloudflare Email Routing forwards your message to the mailbox we read, where it is stored. We use your message and address only to answer you and to deal with what you wrote about. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)); when you ask about using a service of ours, it is taking steps at your request before a contract (art. 6(1)(b)).
We delete the conversation 12 months after it ends. Cloudflare keeps a record of the sender, recipient and subject line of each message for 31 days, and our mailbox provider's encrypted backups can hold a copy of a message for up to 30 days after we delete it. Writing to us is voluntary; we need your e-mail address to answer.
Cookies and browser storage
The websites set no cookies. pipebase.dev stores one item in your browser's local storage, pipebase:theme, and only when you use the theme switch; it holds light or dark. docs.pipebase.dev stores one item in local storage, starlight-theme, as soon as a page loads: it is empty until you choose a theme in its menu, and then holds your choice. It also keeps the state of its sidebar, which groups are open and how far it is scrolled, as sl-sidebar-state in the tab's session storage, which your browser deletes when you close the tab.
None of these items is sent to us; they stay in your browser until you clear the site's data, and the session item until you close the tab. They only serve the display theme and the sidebar you use, so we do not ask for consent (cookiebekendtgørelsen § 4, stk. 1, nr. 2).
Your rights
You have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to have its processing restricted, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interest (GDPR arts. 15–18 and 21). Where we process data to take steps towards a contract, you can also receive it in a portable format (art. 20).
To use these rights, write to hello@pipebase.dev; we answer within one month (art. 12(3)). If your request is about a log entry, include your IP address and the time of the request, so that we can find it.
Complaints
You can complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency, at www.datatilsynet.dk, or to the data protection authority where you live or work in the EU.
Providers and transfers
Our server is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. Cloudflare, Inc. runs our DNS and our e-mail routing; it is a US company. The providers page describes each provider, what it does, and the basis on which Cloudflare and our mailbox provider may process data outside the EEA.
We make no automated decisions about you and do no profiling.
